All Change At Crewe As Miss Great Britain Takes To The By Election Hustings

Sexy Not Sleazy Slogan As Beauty Stands For Parliament

Voters will be given the chance to clean up and to brighten up British politics by sending Miss Great Britain, Gemma Garrett, to Westminster as their MP for the vacant seat of Crewe and Nantwich in the by-election to be held on May 22nd following the death last month of Labour MP Gwyneth Dunwoody.

Miss Garrett, 26 from Belfast, will be standing on a unique platform of Beauties For Britain with a pledge to help make Westminster as glamorous a place as its fellow European legislatures, where beautiful women abound in the higher echelons of government. She has also vowed to turn the tide of sleaze which has dominated headlines in recent years.

She will campaign on the need to bring transparency and accountability to Westminster as well as focusing on women’s issues and on making Britain feel beautiful again.

Gemma launches her candidacy on Monday May 5th on College Green, Westminster, before setting off for her campaign HQ in Crewe where she will immediately introduce herself to voters amidst a fanfare of colour and beauty aimed at persuading voters that politics can be glamorous as well as gritty.

Her campaign, launched on a Bank Holiday, will include a pledge to dedicate Britain’s new proposed Bank Holiday to beauty. Among the key women’s issues on which Gemma will campaign will the advancement of tax breaks for working mothers.

Gemma said: “I may not know a lot about politics yet but I do know about people and how everyone would prefer that Britain looks and feels beautiful instead of dwelling on the ugly and negative side of life and politics.

“I want British politics to be sexy not sleazy and to show that they really care about women. For British politics its all change at Crewe and I am really looking forward to meeting all the voters there and to showing them the power of beauty.”
